Matthew Trexler  . My Hands Are Full . September 18, 2022

We are holding onto things we should be dropping, and dropping things we should be holding onto.

John 15:5-6 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

Ruth 1:3-5 Now Elimelek, Naomi’s husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. 4 They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years, 5 both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.

Ruth 1:14-16 At this they wept aloud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her.15 “Look,” said Naomi, “your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.”16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.

Holding onto conflict.

Proverbs 17:14 Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam;

    so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.

Holding onto comfort.

“For you to remain connected it will always come at the sacrifice of your comfort.”

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

“Our comfort will always be in competition with our calling.”

Holding onto clutter.

1.) Choose to be connected to God’s Presence

James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you.

We have to stay committed to getting into the presence of God.

2.) Choose to be connected to God’s people.

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

We are blocking His calling on our lives by not getting connected.

3. Choose to be connected to God’s power.
