Matthew Trexler  . The Blessed Life: REvisited, “MAMMON” . November 13, 2022

Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Change your view of Mammon.

Mammon promises success.

Ecclesiastes 5:10 Whoever loves money never has enough;

    whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.

    This too is meaningless.

Mammon promises status.

Luke 12:15 Then Jesus said to them, “Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed. Life is not measured by how much one owns.”

Mammon promises security.

Proverbs 11:28 Those who trust in their riches will fall,

    but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.

Matthew 16:26 (NKJV) For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Ecclesiastes 5:15 Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb,

    and as everyone comes, so they depart.

Matthew 6:19-20 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

1st Timothy 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,

    the world, and all who live in it;

Deuteronomy 8:17-18 (MSG) If you start thinking to yourselves, “I did all this. And all by myself. I’m rich. It’s all mine!”—well, think again. Remember that God, your God, gave you the strength to produce all this wealth so as to confirm the covenant that he promised to your ancestors—as it is today.

Proverbs 11:24-25 One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.

25 A generous person will prosper;

    whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.
